Genomics‐assisted breeding: The next‐generation wheat breeding era

چکیده
Common wheat provides approximately 20% of the total dietary calorie intake human beings. Recent technological advances in whole-genome sequencing and their application its progenitor species provide new opportunities to uncover genetic variation traits accelerate traditional breeding (TB) strategies context genomics-assisted (GAB). Integration TB, marker-assisted selection (MAS) genomic (GS) with high-density SNP markers is expected process further enhance gain. With assistance next- or third-generation technologies high-throughput phenotyping platforms, GAB can now realistically be considered following area: (i) genome high-quality assembly variations, (ii) sequence-based association studies, (iii) gene function (or functional gene) identification (iv) integration whole information, utilizing multi-omics data different strategies. We argue that becoming preferred strategy pursuit cultivars superior on high yielding, nutritional quality, climate-resilience so on.

Breeding Science Special Issue: Soybean breeding in genomic era
Soybean is one of the world’s most important crops, offering a stable source of materials for food, feed, industrial, and pharmaceutical applications. Soybean seeds contain a high content of nutritious protein and oil, and assume an important part of traditional foods in many Asian countries, including Japan. They are also abundant in physiologically active metabolites and functional proteins, ...
متن کاملDoubled Haploids versus Conventional Breeding in CIMMYT Wheat Breeding Programs
Doubled haploid (DH) technology has been used in breeding programs for several decades and is currently the method of choice in a number of crop species, including barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), rapeseed (Brassica napus L.), maize (Zea mays L.), and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In this study we investigated via computer simulation the benefit of using DHs compared with the conventional wheat bre...
متن کاملBreeding for Salt-Resistance Using Transgressive Segregation in Spring Wheat
Hybrid populations (F3) derived from cross between four moderate salt-resistant spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were assessed for transgressive segregation of salt-tolerant genotypes allowing germination and emergence at 350 mM NaCl for 30 days. The achieved Selection intensity was the order of 0.24-0.27 in these segregation populations (22-25 seedlings from 9000 seeds). Assessment of trans...
متن کاملStructuring an Efficient Organic Wheat Breeding Program
Our long-term goal is to develop wheat cultivars that will improve the profitability and competitiveness of organic producers in Nebraska and the Northern Great Plains. Our approach is to select in early generations for highly heritable traits that are needed for both organic and conventional production (another breeding goal), followed by a targeted organic breeding effort with testing at two ...
